Joint Crediting Mehanism through Forest Conservation/Cambodia

Mitsui is implementing a project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through forest conservation in Cambodia under the Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM).

In the target areas, forest patrols are conducted to crack down on illegal logging and provide local residents with alternative livelihoods that do not depend on deforestation. In addition, we support forest protection measures in developing countries by utilizing the "REDD+" mechanism (a system that provides economic benefits, such as emission credits, for greenhouse gas emissions reduced by preventing deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries), as stipulated in the Paris Agreement.
